Maintenance Worker Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Worker to join our team at Summerland Seniors Village. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our community, maintaining a safe and secure environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to buildings, equipment, and systems, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
  • Inspect and maintain alarm, call, and security systems, and report any issues to management.
  • Schedule and supervise service work in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Complete general repairs and maintenance tasks, including painting and touch-ups.
  • Implement snow removal and de-icing programs, and support pest control efforts.
  • Assist in fire safety drills and maintain a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily routines, general repairs, and scheduled maintenance items.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in building or community maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and maintenance software.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize schedule of maintenance and workload planning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
