Job Description

The Senior Manager, Accounting is a critical role within the MLS league, responsible for maintaining the organization's financial stability. This position involves overseeing financial reports, general ledgers, and preparing monthly financial statements. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Department to provide accounting support and contribute to the organization's overall success.

Responsibilities
  • Manage month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
  • Oversee international entities and their financial reporting processes.
  • Reconcile balance sheets, analyze accounts, and manage ticket reconciliations for all regular season and playoff matches.
  • Coordinate the monthly settlement process with MLS clubs.
  • Process, review, and record monthly journal entries and accruals.
  • Review trial balances to verify proper coding of expenses.
  • Assist in the monthly and year-end close processes.
  • Manage project-based settlement accounting and management, including events like the All-Star Game, MLS Cup, and Leagues Cup.
  • Support the year-end audit process.
  • Analyze variances to budget.
  • Contribute to tax filings and government census surveys.
  • Provide guidance on foreign subsidiary accounting.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 7+ years of experience in accounting/finance.
