We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel, Underwriting to join our team at Chicago Title Canada. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our title insurance solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review files for accuracy and quality control
  • Assist Underwriters in analyzing difficult or complicated files
  • Communicate with lawyers and law clerks to explain coverages and answer inquiries
  • Perform legal research and draft memos and charts outlining findings
  • Participate in developing guidelines and procedures
  • Develop and update Continuing Professional Development presentations
  • Attend real estate and title insurance industry functions

Requirements:

  • Law Degree and membership in the Law Society of Ontario
  • Minimum 2 years of residential real estate experience
  • Commercial real estate experience an asset
  • Strong understanding of real estate conveyancing and real estate law
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to develop working relationships at multiple levels of an organization
  • Self-directed and motivated individual with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project)
