Sushi Chef Job Description

At Sapporo Sushi Ottawa, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Sushi Chef to join our team. This is a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of culinary professionals to create exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to cooking staff to enhance our culinary offerings.
  • Create innovative and delicious new recipes to showcase on our menu.
  • Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food to ensure consistency and excellence.
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events, such as banquets, to meet the high standards of our guests.
  • Supervise and lead a team of cooks and other kitchen staff to achieve our culinary objectives.
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies to maintain a well-stocked and organized kitchen environment.
  • Plan and implement menus that meet the quality standards of our guests and showcase the best of Japanese cuisine.
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food to ensure food safety and quality.
