Job Overview

Calian is seeking a skilled Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our team on a part-time basis at CFB Edmonton. This unique opportunity allows physicians to work with Canadian Armed Forces members without requiring membership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing orthopaedic consultation services to CAF members on a referral basis
  • Conducting comprehensive diagnoses, medical management, and rehabilitation of patients
  • Determining procedures for preoperative and postoperative care, applying surgical procedures, and coordinating operations with anesthesiologists
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team case conferences when on-site
  • Practicing as a member of a multidisciplinary team and consulting with other healthcare professionals as needed to ensure the healthcare needs of CAF members are met
  • Practicing in accordance with the Canadian Armed Forces' Spectrum of Care, Drug Benefit List, and Code of Ethics
Requirements
  • Licensed and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta
  • Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC)
  • Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C Certification
Additional Considerations
  • A Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level is required
  • CF Basic Aviation and Dive Medicine Certification is considered an asset but not mandatory

  • A security clearance and/or vulnerable sector screening may be required for this position
