About the Role

Plains Midstream Canada is seeking a highly motivated Market Analytics Specialist to join our Financial Trading and Analytics team in Calgary, AB. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing timely analysis of large datasets, implementing big data ingestion, and managing supply and demand models across crude, NGL, gas, and power markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and develop Python scripts and databases to support data analysis and reporting
  • Provide market analysis and commercial recommendations on opportunities in the markets
  • Present market information to stakeholders, including Plains executives
  • Work in support of traders to understand market issues that impact the business
  • Provide analysis to traders and management in support of strategy discussions
  • Liaise with other departments as required to ensure seamless communication and collaboration
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, computer science, or related disciplines with at least 2+ years of experience working with large data sets and statistics
  • Experience with Python, Pandas, Scikit-learn, VBA, SQL, and Microsoft Azure
  • Strong data engineering/data management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills, with the ability to deliver functional analysis and reporting to a diverse audience
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills at all levels of the organization
  • Track record of providing high-quality deliverables on time and under pressure, with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
