Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Market Analytics Specialist to join our Financial Trading and Analytics team at Plains Midstream Canada (PMC). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing timely analysis of large datasets, implementing big data ingestion, and managing supply and demand models across crude, NGL, gas, and power markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and develop Python scripts and databases to support data analysis and reporting.
  • Provide market analysis and commercial recommendations on opportunities in the markets.
  • Present market information to stakeholders, including traders and management.
  • Work in support of the traders to understand market issues that impact the business.
  • Provide analysis to traders and management in support of strategy discussions.
  • Responsible for maintaining and communicating market information (pricing, trends, opportunities) to the broader commercial team, including Plains executives.
  • Liaise with other departments as required.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, computer science, or related disciplines with at least 2+ years of experience working with large data sets and statistics.
  • Experience with Python, Pandas, Scikit-learn, VBA, SQL, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong data engineering/data management skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI.
  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills; demonstrated ability to deliver functional analysis and reporting to a diverse audience.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Track record of providing high-quality deliverables on time and under pressure as well as managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable presenting data to various stakeholders in the company.
  • Goal-oriented and able to contribute as a team player.
