Director, Finance

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our accounting and financial planning functions. As Director, Finance, you will be responsible for formulating financial administration and accounting policies, procedures, and systems, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation.

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent opportunity to lead our finance function. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and presenting financial reports to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Establishing and maintaining middle office and back-office processes and controls to ensure the effective operation of our finance function.
  • Developing and promoting compliance with corporate policies, standards, regulations, and procedures governing financial operations.
  • Directing the preparation of financial statements and reports, and ensuring timely submission to management and the Board of Directors.
  • Working with the Director, Corporate Strategy to prepare financial forecasts and administer annual operating plans.
  • Coordinating the annual operational budget submissions and approval process.
  • Promoting prudence and probity in the management of corporate expenditures, asset control, and liabilities.
  • Conducting cash flow forecasting, managing transaction risk, and preparing performance evaluations.
  • Reviewing the Corporation's tax position and making recommendations on corporate income tax and HST matters.
  • Directing the collection of information from departments and preparing comprehensive Performance Assessment Reports.
  • Contributing to the development and revision of corporate accounting policies and procedures.
  • Advising other divisions and department heads on financial issues facing the Corporation.
  • Monitoring emerging accounting issues and analyzing potential impact to our organization.

Requirements
  • Completion of a University Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation.
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • 7+ years of experience managing a team of professionals in a variety of disciplines.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong modelling and analytical skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent ability to work strategically and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to tease out complex issues into relatable and relevant content for broader consumption.
  • Strong attention to detail, prioritization, and ability to work in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment.
