Job Title: Financial Operations Director

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Financial Resources, the Financial Operations Director plans, directs, organizes, and monitors financial, accounting, and accountability operations for research, trust, and endowment funds across the University.

This role provides leadership in designing and implementing policies and procedures, offering professional assistance to researchers and decentralized administrators, and ensuring service excellence in preparing and sending financial reports.

The Financial Operations Director leads the financial, accounting, and accountability operations related to research, trust, and endowment activities to respond to funding agency reporting requirements and mitigate related risks.

This position ensures good communication between Financial Resources and the University community, ensuring the management of Research, Trust, and Endowment section activities is consistent and rigorous.

The Financial Operations Director compiles reports in accordance with accounting standards and guidelines, ensuring compliance with Policy 111 on endowment funds and enforcing strict standards for the integrity and accuracy of endowment funds.

This role provides leadership in managing endowed funds and usable funding to respond to the University's financial aid requirements while ensuring the long-term viability of the endowment funds.

The Financial Operations Director designs, reviews, and promotes financial policies and procedures related to trusts and research activities to ensure funding agency requirements are accurately met.

This position submits recommendations to senior management to ensure research and trust activities operate smoothly and are managed correctly.

Requirements:
  • 10 years' experience in the education sector or a large business, including at least 6 years in a financial management position
  • Experience in managing human resources and leading a team
  • Experience in short-, medium-, and long-term strategic planning
  • Experience in using major financial software and computer programs
  • Organizational skills, including time management, multitasking, and meeting deadlines
