The Role

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Mortgage Underwriter to join our dynamic commercial team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for evaluating and approving commercial mortgage applications. Your expertise in underwriting will ensure compliance with lending guidelines while driving business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Underwriting and Analysis: Evaluate commercial mortgage applications, ensuring all lending criteria are met and documentation is handled efficiently.
  • Communication and Coordination: Liaise daily with external partners and internal teams to ensure timely funding deadlines and exceed customer expectations.
  • Time Management: Juggle multiple deals and prioritize tasks to meet prescribed deadlines.
  • Administrative and Reporting Duties: Provide crucial administrative support to the department and company, including insightful reporting that drives strategic decisions.

Requirements

  • Proven Underwriting Skills: 4-5 years of commercial mortgage experience with a proven track record of service excellence.
  • Bilingualism and Education: Bilingualism is a plus; post-secondary education (diploma/degree) preferred, ideally in business or finance.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex commercial mortgage applications.
  • Business Acumen and Technical Knowledge: A sharp business sense and deep technical knowledge of secured lending and the commercial mortgage market.
  • Communication and Time Management: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and outstanding time management skills to manage multiple priorities.
