Job Summary:
Pladec Day Care Centre seeks a qualified Child Development Specialist to join its team. The ideal candidate will have experience in child-care programs for infants and toddlers, as well as lead activities for school-age children. Responsibilities include supervising staff and training volunteers, ordering supplies, preparing snacks, and maintaining a safe environment for children. A key aspect of this role is establishing guidelines for behavior, attending staff meetings, and collaborating with co-workers and community service providers.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers.
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
  • Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  • Establish guidelines for behavior and know licensing regulations.
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers.


Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess:
  • A college diploma from a program of 1-2 years.
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in early childhood education.


Work Environment:
This position is located within a day care centre or nursery school. The work environment is dynamic, requiring the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and will be able to establish effective communication channels with colleagues and children alike.

Certifications and Licenses:
The successful candidate will be required to hold the following certifications:
  • Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • CPR Certificate.


Salary and Benefits:
Pladec Day Care Centre offers an attractive salary and comprehensive benefits package to successful candidates. This includes dental plan, disability benefits, health care plan, and vision care benefits. We also offer a permanent work term and flexible working hours. Our standard working hours are 35 hours per week. With our competitive salary range at approximately $45,000-$55,000 annually, you will have the opportunity to build a fulfilling career with our organization.
