Creature - Jedi Training Program (Open to Canadian Citizens & PR only)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and ambitious individual to join our Creature department as a Jedi Trainee. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to hone your skills in creature simulation and rigging, working closely with our experienced Jedi Masters.
This paid training program is designed for recent graduates or industry artists with up to two years of experience, providing a comprehensive learning experience in a fast-paced and collaborative production environment.
Upon successful completion of the program, you may be offered a Junior Artist position within the studio, allowing you to continue growing and developing your skills in the field of Visual Effects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend live classes and self-led training sessions to learn about ILM's creature pipeline and best practices.
- Replicate rigs and shots from completed projects to gain hands-on experience.
- Offer day-to-day support to Creature Technical Directors and Animators, working under the mentorship of Leads, Supervisors, and the Head of Department.
- Analyze and optimize rigs and sim set-ups to improve efficiency and quality.
- Assist show Supervisors with quality control and preparation.
- Develop professional habits, including effective communication and teamwork.
- Gain knowledge and appreciation of ILM's culture and history.
Requirements:
- A certificate or degree in Computer Graphics, Animation, Fine Arts, Design, or Photography, or a related program.
- Proven ability in one or more CG techniques relevant to the creature department, including rigging and simulation.
- Experience with Maya or Houdini is required.
- A reel demonstrating character or creature effects, rigging, and technical abilities is required.
- Experience refining templates, rig kits, and reusable sim set-ups is a plus.
- Knowledge of Linux and coding/scripting knowledge (Python, MEL, or VEX) is a plus.
Compensation:
The pay rate for this role is C$25.14 per hour. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, including medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
