Treasury Strategist: Corporate Finance and Risk Leadership

We are seeking a seasoned Treasury Strategist to lead our Treasury function, driving strategic initiatives that align with our company's overall financial objectives. As a key member of our executive team, you will be responsible for overseeing all treasury functions, including liquidity management, capital structure, debt management, and risk mitigation.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity to join Superior Propane Inc. as a VP of Treasury, working closely with senior management to develop and execute strategies that support our long-term growth and financial stability. You will have deep expertise in corporate finance, treasury operations, and risk management within a public company setting.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Cash Management: Oversee daily cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet our operational needs, and optimize cash positioning.
  • Debt and Capital Management: Lead the development and execution of strategies to manage our debt and optimize our capital structure, including negotiating and managing loans, bonds, equity raises, and other financial instruments.
  • Treasury Technology: Manage and improve our treasury management systems to ensure efficient and accurate reporting of financial data and cash movements.
  • Treasury and Risk Reporting: Ensure management is informed of key positions and risks.
  • Foreign Exchange (FX) and Interest Rate Risk: Manage our exposure to currency and interest rate fluctuations through hedging strategies and derivative instruments, in line with our corporate risk tolerance.
  • Liquidity Risk: Assess and mitigate liquidity risks, ensuring we have appropriate lines of credit and emergency funding strategies.
  • Compliance and Controls: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including SOX, IFRS, and other Canadian public company regulations. Establish and maintain effective internal controls over treasury operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA, CFA, and CPA designation preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in treasury management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a public company, preferably in Canada.
  • Proficiency with treasury management systems, FX hedging, cash flow forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Proven experience leading treasury teams and collaborating with executive leadership on strategic financial initiatives.
  • Ability to align treasury operations with long-term corporate objectives.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with an ability to interpret complex financial data and develop actionable insights.
  • Deep understanding of financial risk management strategies, including FX, interest rate, and liquidity risk.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $180,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on experience.
