About the Role

The Security Officer - Campus Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining a safe and inviting campus environment by ensuring the safety and security of our community, assets, and property.

They will serve as a resource to staff, students, and visitors to enhance their campus experience.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide a feedback loop for students to express concerns, requests, and additional supports. Generate reports as necessary.
  • Conduct inspections of life-safety equipment, including AEDs, emergency eyewash stations, first aid kits, and portable fire extinguishers.
  • Regularly visit all campus locations for security reviews and general contact.
  • Respond to service calls, requests for assistance, and inquiries from staff, students, and visitors.
  • Monitor access control, CCTV, and alert systems.
  • Enforce parking policies and monitor campus traffic.
  • Assist in training contracted security guards on policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Provide on-site direction to contracted security guards.
  • Conduct incident investigations and complaints from within the College.
  • Be knowledgeable of MITT's Emergency Procedures.
  • Conduct fire drills and lockdown procedures.
  • Serve as the evening point person for police and emergency services.
  • Be the primary responder to emergency situations in the evenings.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • A combination of related education and experience may be considered.
  • Valid Manitoba Security Guard License.
  • High school diploma.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in the security industry.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this role is between $44,396.12 and $60,065.34 per year.
