Senior Financial Director

As a key member of the Academica Group, the Senior Financial Director plays a pivotal role in driving financial leadership and strategic growth. Reporting to the Vice-President College Services, this individual will provide effective leadership and accountability for finance, payroll, and procurement teams.
Main Responsibilities- The Senior Financial Director is responsible for projecting and estimating financial requirements, ensuring responsible stewardship and comprehensive oversight in collaboration with the Vice-President.
- Plan, implement, and continuously improve financial accounting systems, adhering to Provincial, Federal, and other government Acts and Regulations, as well as generally accepted accounting and auditing principles.
- Manage college-wide cash flow and investments for both the Academica Group and the Selkirk College Foundation.
- This position ensures sound administrative policies and procedures are in place to safeguard assets and facilitate timely and efficient work execution.
- Oversee provision of common services, including mail, insurance, printing, and banking services.
- Ensure proper management of college assets, tenders, and inventory records.
- Participate in recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of staff necessary to fulfill Executive Director responsibilities.
- The Senior Financial Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements for the foundation.
- Collaborate with the Vice-President, President, and Advancement Team to develop sound investment policies that protect foundation assets.
- Oversight of investment management with the Foundation's designated investment manager.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a related field.
- An accounting designation (CPA).
- An MBA, MAcc, or MPAcc designation would be an asset.
This is a regular, full-time position commencing January 1, 2025. Salary and benefits align with the Administrative Staff and Benefit Program. This role will be placed on Grid Level 15 between the minimum and control/mid-point ($116,941). The Senior Financial Director must possess extensive knowledge of public sector budget development processes, financial regulations, controls, and procedures, as well as working knowledge of inter-provincial and federal trade agreements.
