Simcoe Muskoka Family Connections is seeking a highly skilled Medical-Legal Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in representing the Agency in all legal matters pertaining to children in need of protection.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent the Agency in all legal matters related to children in need of protection, under the general direction of Senior Legal Counsel.
  • Prepare and present cases in Superior Court of Justice, Family Court, and appeals.
  • Provide legal consultation to Agency staff on matters relevant to protection case work.
  • Develop and maintain sound knowledge of legislation dealing with children and families, particularly the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
  • Utilize strong mediation skills to resolve disputes and ensure the best interests of the child and the Agency are met.
  • Work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities.
Requirements:
  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Strong understanding of litigation processes and procedures.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is a highly desired asset.
  • Ability to work in a virtual environment.
