About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Litigation & Employment team in Valcourt, Québec. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in handling complex litigation matters, including product liability, commercial disputes, class actions, and intellectual property cases.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Handling complex litigation cases from inception to conclusion in jurisdictions around the world.
  • Assisting outside attorneys in developing litigation strategies, preparing witnesses, assessing litigation risks, and attending mediation and trial.
  • Holding an active role in protecting and defending BRP's interests, making strategic litigation decisions, and managing risks.
  • Providing support to the labor & employment team in supporting the human resources function with all legal needs, including drafting agreements and policies, advising on legal compliance and risks, and managing labor relations and employment issues.
  • Supporting the Director, Legal Services, Litigation and Employment with the preparation of reports and presentations to various stakeholders, including management, insurers, and auditors.
  • Participating in the legal department's efforts to educate BRP's staff on good business practices to reduce and mitigate legal risks and providing support to other members of the legal department as needed.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • 6-8 years' experience as an in-house legal counsel or as a lawyer in a private law firm (we remain open to profiles that may be more junior or more senior than specified, in which case the title and responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly).
  • Experience in litigation, including product liability and commercial cases. Experience with the U.S. legal system is a plus.
  • Experience in labor & employment law, in both unionized and non-unionized work environments.
  • Strong strategic skills and ability to lead complex litigation matters with a clear vision of risks and opportunities.
  • Curiosity, discipline, autonomy, and initiative in your work.
  • Ability to manage pressure and prioritize work effectively.
  • Impactful verbal communication skills and ability to work across every level of an organization and relate effectively with executives and operational teams in French and English.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
