Job Overview

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) plays a vital role in the Cardiology Unit, providing high-quality patient care to individuals who require less complex treatment and have more predictable outcomes. As a key member of the inter-professional healthcare team, the RPN is responsible for delivering nursing care that prioritizes patient safety, physiological and psychological well-being, and cultural sensitivity.

Salary Information

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $34.26 to $37.05 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Job Description

The RPN will be accountable for the following:
- Safe nursing practice across all aspects of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care
- Providing patient-centered care to ensure optimal patient safety and well-being
- Delivering care in a compassionate and caring manner within a diverse cultural environment
- Practicing according to infection control and prevention measures
- Responding to emergency situations by recognizing changes in patient health status and consulting appropriately when necessary using transfer of accountability principles
- Providing health teaching to patients and families, including thorough discharge instructions to ensure continuity of care in the community

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Recent cardiology experience within the last five years, with a minimum of two years acute medicine experience required
- Coronary Care 1 certification required
- Ability to pass an arrhythmia interview quiz with an 80% score to move on to the interview phase required
- Ability to pass a cardiology challenge exam with an 80% score within 30 days of hire required
- Experience performing 12-lead ECG and rhythm interpretation within the last two years required
- Experience in caring for patients with TPN, NG tubes, chest tubes, wound care, enteral feeds, IV therapy, blood collection, and isolation within the last two years preferred
