About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at The Dow Chemical Company. As a key member of our commissioning and start-up team, you will be responsible for supporting large-scale capital projects at our Fort Saskatchewan site in Alberta, Canada.

In this role, you will work closely with the Mechanical C&SU Lead for the new Gas Phase Polyethylene plant to be built on site (LP8). Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development of mechanical equipment commissioning and start-up procedures
  • Reviewing mechanical equipment protection plans and participating in field audits throughout the construction phase
  • Supporting the development of mechanical equipment preventive maintenance programs, lubrication, vibration, lifting device inspection, and HVAC equipment PPM Program
  • Collaborating with reliability engineers for equipment reliability strategy implementation
  • Reviewing mechanical spare parts and setting up stock quantities aligned with ERS and site requirements
  • Helping develop the C&SU database in Provenience for mechanical equipment
  • Supporting the maintenance representative to set up plans for mechanical C&SU resources, mechanical tools, and special tools
  • Supporting the development of mechanical equipment repair procedures
  • Reviewing process automation settings for mechanical equipment
  • Supporting mechanical commissioning and start-up activities

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Registration or the ability to be registered with APEGA (EIT/P.Eng)
  • Prior relevant work experience is preferred (i.e., maintenance/reliability engineering, commissioning & start-up, etc.)
  • A background in plastics technology is preferred
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% (domestically & internationally)
  • Ability to safely work in a plant environment, meet physical demands, work at elevated heights, and comfortably use PPE and safety equipment (including harnesses with a total maximum weight capacity of 300lbs)
  • Must be familiar with or open to training on proper equipment usage
