Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Plant Engineer to join our team at OxyChem's Chemical Manufacturing Facility in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring utility equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient supply of utilities, air, water, fire, and waste systems to the plant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and monitor all utility equipment located outside the boiler house, including cooling towers, refrigeration systems, air compressors, steam condensate collection systems, and emergency diesel generators.
  • Ensure that all utilities, air, water, fire, and waste systems are supplied to the plant, conducting daily work activities in support of HSE objectives and policies.
  • Diagnose problems and determine possible solutions, advising and assisting maintenance as required.
  • Issue safety work permits as needed and maintain daily log sheets, operational data, and charts for record-keeping purposes.
  • Maintain general housekeeping and minor maintenance within the Utilities department, performing extra testing, adjustments, and isolations when necessary.
Requirements:
  • A 3rd Class Stationary Engineer license with experience working with boilers, water and wastewater treatment, pumps, reciprocating air compressors, centrifugal compressors, cooling towers, refrigeration equipment, diesel generators, and fire pumps.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis, with the physical ability to perform manual duties, including climbing ladders and stairs, walking, bending, standing, and stooping.
