Project Overview:

Bechtel seeks qualified professionals in contract management and administration to join our team in Canada. Our team delivers infrastructure projects across the country, and we are seeking experts to help us achieve our goals.

Job Summary:

This role involves participating in subcontract formation and administration, including leading the preparation and review of bid request packages and developing project contracts operating procedures. Your work will ensure subcontract compliance with project requirements.

  1. Implement the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule, which records the Project's agreed assignment of various subcontract management tasks and the Standard Work Process Procedures applicable to Subcontract Management.
  2. Manage assigned subcontracts, maintaining a continual review of progress and providing management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties.
  3. Coordinate with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, subcontract performance, subcontract management, and other major matters.
  4. Manage complex contract changes by negotiating with customer personnel and obtaining settlement.
  5. Represent Bechtel in contractual discussions of moderate complexity.

Subcontract Formation:

  1. Lead the preparation of bid request packages, addenda, and other bid cycle correspondence to ensure proper format, content, and project requirements are met.
  2. Review bid tabulations for accuracy, bidder recommendation, completeness, and approve selection of suppliers within delegated approval authority.
  3. Review and recommend bid selections that require higher approval authority.
  4. Execute commitments within delegated signing authority.
  5. Develop, monitor, and maintain project master contracts forms, including legal and commercial terms and conditions to be included in the project contracts documents.
  6. Direct negotiations and prepare proposed negotiating plans in the commitment and resolution of commercial conditions of contracts when such action is agreed as necessary by the designated supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in developing, presenting, and recommending potential solutions to contractual problems to management.
  • Basic knowledge of procurement regulations, policies, and practices.
  • Specialized courses or experience in pricing, contract law, negotiations, and accounting.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge and experience in contract management and applies that knowledge and experience to improve project performance.
  • Working knowledge of engineering/construction industry contracting practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated oral and written and inter-personal communication skills.
  • Experience in administering and interpreting contract types, fee arrangements, and contract terms.
