We are seeking a skilled Family Medicine Inpatient Care Specialist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As an Inpatient Hospitalist Physician, you will provide high-quality patient care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level healthcare services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing their panel of hospitalist patients, providing care and coordination of community-based care, and operating within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a friendly and collegial workplace where everyone knows your name. Our hospital houses a 24-hour level 3 Emergency Department and provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and satellite programs.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a panel of hospitalist patients
- Provide care and coordination of community-based care
- Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
- Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
Expected Hours
While on hospitalist duty, you will be on call for your patients 24/7. The position requires coverage for 1 or 2 weeks per 4-week cycle (1:4 or 2:4). There may be additional work opportunities in the primary care clinic, ER shifts, or locuming in local family doctor offices during your weeks off from hospitalist duties.
Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, you must:
- Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- Be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Have coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage
- Hold Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certifications
