Transport Operations Coordinator

ArcelorMittal Mines et Infrastructure Canada is seeking a key player to join its team as a Transport Operations Coordinator in Port-Cartier. Reporting to the Transportation Section Chief, this individual will play a crucial role in the railway transportation process, ensuring the coordination of operational activities related to production at Mont-Wright, railway transportation, and mineral handling.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor annual tonnage objectives for concentrate and Fire Lake operations;
- Coordinate planned stops with various sectors of the value chain;
- Communicate daily with different sectors to capture production and maintenance opportunities;
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with railway maintenance departments to ensure adherence to their maintenance plans;
- Ensure the sustainability of railway transportation equipment and achievement of transportation and maintenance objectives;
- Represent the transportation operation in railway schedule and planning meetings;
- Establish and maintain effective communication practices and transmit information efficiently between departments and work shifts;
- Manage personnel under their responsibility (managers and unionized employees);
- Mastery, application, and enforcement of railway regulations;
- Proactively optimize the entire train cycle;
- Contribute to projects aimed at improving performance and suggest innovative ideas to achieve organizational objectives;
- Participate in budget development and monitoring with the section chief.
Requirements
- Diploma in a field related to logistics, operations management, or any other combination of education and experience deemed equivalent;
- 5 years of experience in the railway industry (experience as a railway traffic controller, an asset);
- Certification related to railway regulations (REF), an asset;
- 3 to 5 years of experience in human resources management;
- Leadership skills and good communication skills;
- Interpersonal skills;
- Good learning ability and ability to make quick decisions;
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
Work Schedule
This position is based in Port-Cartier on a 7-7 schedule, consisting of 7 consecutive days of 12-hour work shifts, followed by 7 days of rest.
