Job Description

ArcelorMittal Mines et Infrastructure Canada is seeking a Transportation Manager to join our team in Port-Cartier. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Section Manager, Transportation, and will be responsible for coordinating the workforce to meet the operational needs and business objectives.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop the skills of the personnel under their responsibility, in line with the key competencies of ArcelorMittal;
  • Manage the human resources of the train teams and terminal staff;
  • Foster employee engagement and maintain good working relationships;
  • Provide the department with the necessary workforce by assigning personnel to different trains (common schedule and assignments) and managing the workforce vacation program;
  • Act as an expert on the collective agreement and apply it in accordance with the regulations;
  • Communicate daily with key players in transportation to capture all production and maintenance opportunities;
  • Identify, define, plan, and maintain the training needs of their teams;
  • Contribute to the department's training committee;
  • Ensure good communication with the union, participate in required interventions during the second and third stages of the grievance procedure;
  • Respect and implement all applicable health and safety and environmental standards;
  • Mastery, respect, and application of railway regulations;
  • Participate in the development of the budget and ensure its follow-up with the section manager.
Requirements
  • Diploma in a related field (DEC) in administration, logistics, human resources, or any other combination of education and experience deemed equivalent;
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in human resources management (experience in managing in a unionized environment is an asset);
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the railway industry;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and developed communication skills;
  • Good learning capacity and great ability to learn;
  • Leadership skills and good communicator;
  • Effective prioritization and organizational skills.
Work Schedule

This position is based in Port-Cartier on a 5-2 schedule, five (5) consecutive days of work of twelve (8) hours per day, followed by two (2) days off.
