Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy-duty trucks and equipment used in our metal recycling operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, loaders, forklifts, and other equipment used in metal recycling operations.
  • Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and implement effective repair solutions.
  • Follow established maintenance schedules to perform regular servicing, fluid changes, lubrication, and component replacements.
  • Conduct major and minor repairs, including engine overhauls, transmission repairs, brake system replacements, and hydraulic system troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including service reports, parts usage, and equipment history in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices in the shop and field environments.
  • Coordinate with the Parts Department to order necessary parts, track inventory levels, and ensure the availability of required components for repairs and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Valid 310T Truck and Coach License
  • Experience as a 310T Mechanic, preferably in a heavy-duty trucking or maintenance environment
  • Knowledge of heavy-duty truck and equipment components, including engines, transmissions, and diagnosis
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time and workload
  • Experience in the metal recycling industry is an asset
  • Must have your own set of hand tools
