Heavy-Duty Truck Mechanic

About the Role
American Iron & Metal is seeking a skilled 310T Mechanic to join our team. As a 310T Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy-duty trucks and equipment used in our metal recycling operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, loaders, forklifts, and other equipment used in metal recycling operations.
- Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and implement effective repair solutions.
- Follow established maintenance schedules to perform regular servicing, fluid changes, lubrication, and component replacements.
- Conduct major and minor repairs, including engine overhauls, transmission repairs, brake system replacements, and hydraulic system troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including service reports, parts usage, and equipment history in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices in the shop and field environments.
- Coordinate with the Parts Department to order necessary parts, track inventory levels, and ensure the availability of required components for repairs and maintenance.
Requirements
- Valid 310T Truck and Coach License.
- Experience as a 310T Mechanic, preferably in a heavy-duty trucking or maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of heavy-duty truck and equipment components, including engines, transmissions, and diagnosis.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time and workload.
- Experience in the metal recycling industry is an asset.
- Must have your own set of hand tools.
