Job Description

Role Summary:

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Innovation Leader to join our team. As a Senior Advisor, you will play a key role in developing and implementing innovation strategies, programs, and grant management initiatives that drive economic growth and prosperity in Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and expertise in the development of innovation system strategies, programs, and grant management initiatives.
  • Contribute to major programs and initiatives that promote economic growth and prosperity through research and innovation capacity growth projects.
  • Lead the implementation of updates and renewals of programs, as well as the creation of new programs.
  • Lead the department's analysis of reporting from program recipients, identifying trends, strategic links, and stakeholder interests.
  • Provide sound evidence-based information, advice, and recommendations to executives, as well as participate in cross-government initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Strategic thinking and ability to provide advice and recommendations to leadership.
  • Ability to understand financial analysis and program budgeting.
  • Ability to coordinate information from multiple sources.
  • Attention to detail and strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong comprehension of funding programs and usage of data.
