The City of Port Coquitlam is seeking an accomplished Community Planning Manager to lead long-range planning initiatives that shape the city's future. As a key member of the Development Services team, you will provide strategic policy guidance and advice to senior staff, departments, and City Council on community planning policy.
Job DescriptionThis role involves developing, monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating existing programs, planning policies, and regulations. You will be responsible for maintaining the City's community planning model, attending Council meetings, and advising on matters affecting the Official Community Plan and other long-range planning documents.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and direction on community planning policy and implementation
- Develop and maintain the City's community planning model
- Attend Council meetings and advise on planning-related matters
- Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and community groups
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A post-graduate degree in planning or a related field
- At least 6 years of experience in municipal government, including 3 years of supervisory experience
- Registration or licensure as a Professional Planner (Canadian Institute of Planners or Planning Institute of BC)
- Excellent problem-solving skills, astute political acumen, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
The annual salary for this position is $145,272 to $173,480, supplemented by a competitive total compensation package. A valid driver's license is required, and applicants under consideration will need to complete a police information check.
