About the Role:

At Arterra Wines Canada, we're passionate about crafting exceptional wines that bring people together. As a Brand Winemaker, you'll play a key role in shaping our wine portfolio and ensuring the highest quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee wine production, ensuring VQA wines meet our quality expectations.
  • Manage bulk products to minimize risk of spoilage and contamination.
  • Coordinate with the bottling team to ensure packaged products are delivered on time and in optimal condition.
  • Address winemaking issues related to product quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with the vineyard team to select the best grapes for winemaking.
  • Monitor fermentation and adjust processes as needed to achieve desired characteristics.
  • Make decisions about blending and aging wine to create unique flavors and styles.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and training.
  • Adhere to all OH&S, GMP, HACCP, and ISO initiatives for the site.
  • Support supply/demand forecasting and provide guidance on recipes and naming conventions.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Food Sciences, Oenology, or Viticulture.
  • 3-5 years of experience in winemaking or cellar operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of winemaking techniques and cellar operations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on understanding of the winemaking process and ability to analyze data.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Working Conditions:

The role requires working in a cellar environment with potentially cool temperatures and occasional exposure to outside conditions. Shift work and weekends may be required based on workload.
