Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled medical professional to join our team as a physician in the Trans Health program.
This position involves providing client-centred care to Klinic clients, with physicians practicing humility and understanding their own social position in comparison to their clients.
Responsibilities- Care:
- Provides Gender Affirming healthcare in a community setting, in accordance with Klinic's Transhealth guidelines (based on WPATH 8th edition).
- Collaborates with Primary Health Care Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants and other Klinic staff.
- Participates in case conferences.
- Documents accurate and pertinent client information in a timely manner, including maintenance of medical bands.
- Charts appropriately, legibly and according to Klinic policies.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Communicates effectively with all health team members to ensure client health needs are met.
- Program/Agency:
- Participates in the supervision and evaluation of students in the Health Services.
- Establishes, reviews and updates clinical protocols.
- Assists in the development of health information resources.
- Assists in program development.
- Records daily statistics as required.
- Assists with orientation, training and supervision of new staff and students.
Requirements:
- Graduate of a recognized school of medicine.
- Currently registered or eligible to be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM) for practice in Manitoba.
- Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
- Current certification of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) or comparable professional medical certification appropriate for practice in Transgender Health.
- Interest and/or experience in community-based medicine and the Social Determinants of Health.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (additional language skills would be an asset).
- Pro-choice.
- Willingness and ability to work with individuals of diverse gender identities/expressions and sexuality preferences.
- Able to communicate appropriately cross-culturally.
- Work environment consisting of an office building.
- May be required to move items weighing up to 12 kg.
- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients and visitors.
- May be required to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
Estimated Salary: $180,000 - $220,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
