Job Summary:

The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is seeking a qualified Educational Assistant to provide support to students with special needs in our schools. As a member of our team, you will work closely with students, teachers, and other support staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic, physical, and emotional support to students with exceptional needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as personal care and mobility
  • Support students with behavioral or emotional challenges, using positive behavioral interventions and supports
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a smooth and successful learning experience
Requirements:
  • College Diploma in a related field of study or University Degree or an Educational Assistant Apprenticeship Certificate
  • 2 years prior experience working with students with special needs
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
