Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Powerline Technician Supervisor to oversee daily activities on our construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading on-site crews, ensuring project execution in compliance with project requirements, schedules, budget, safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and subcontractors as the main point of contact, serving as the primary liaison between Valard and client site representatives.
  • Lead on-site crews, ensuring project construction activities align with project drawings, specifications, schedules, budget, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Implement Valard's safety policies and procedures by setting a good example and supporting their implementation.
  • Document and report all injuries, submit Notice of Injury/Accident Reports, and communicate with the onsite Safety Advisor.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to develop and maintain project construction timelines through efficient use of resources: manpower, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Work with Project Managers to manage subcontractors on-site, develop subcontract agreements as required, track production to maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Contribute to project execution plans, kick-off meetings, contract reviews, scope reviews, and ensure a well-rounded project program by working with Valard's contracts team.
  • Mentor, train, and motivate job site crews to adopt a culture of safety, quality, and production.
  • Empower crew members to understand and uphold Valard's safety, construction, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Use Valard's change management system, work with clients to review and obtain closure on RFIs and Cos.
  • Evaluate and schedule equipment as needed.
  • Complete employee performance reviews and disciplinary actions, in conjunction with Manitoba's HR Representative, when necessary.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Journeyman Powerline Technician certification.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to manage large work groups effectively.
  • Familiarity with various construction disciplines, safety regulations, project scheduling, cost control, and quality assurance.
  • The position is field-based; the incumbent must accommodate multiple shift requirements based on site-specific project schedules.
  • Prioritization will be given to local candidates from Sault Ste. Marie.
