Job Title: BCGEU Faculty, Boilermaker

BCIT's School of Construction and the Environment is seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) BCGEU Faculty, Boilermaker to teach in our Boilermaker program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in boilermaking and the ability to instruct apprentice or entry-level students.

Responsibilities:
  • Face-to-face classroom instruction to apprentice or entry-level students;
  • Preparing and presenting classroom lessons, including lectures and facilitating individual and group work;
  • Face-to-face practical demonstrations;
  • Evaluating student work and evaluating the quality of program curriculum and instruction;
  • Maintaining a safe work environment for staff and students;
  • Working collaboratively with other Faculty members for the development and delivery of programs;
  • Working collectively with our Steel Trades Department Head.
Qualifications:
  • BC Trades Qualification with Inter-provincial Red Seal Status in Boilermaking;
  • Minimum of five years' current experience as a journeyperson;
  • Previous supervisory or teaching experience would be an asset;
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities necessary to instruct the curriculum;
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills;
  • Provincial Instructor Diploma (or willingness to achieve such) an asset;
  • Welding ticket would be an asset;
  • Current computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
