Boilermaker Instructor

Job Summary

BCIT's School of Construction and the Environment is seeking a temporary, full-time Boilermaker Instructor to teach in our Boilermaker program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in boilermaking and the ability to instruct students in a classroom and practical setting.

Responsibilities

• Teach boilermaking courses to apprentice or entry-level students
• Prepare and present classroom lessons, including lectures and practical demonstrations
• Evaluate student work and program curriculum
• Maintain a safe work environment for staff and students
• Work collaboratively with other Faculty members and the Steel Trades Department Head

Qualifications

• BC Trades Qualification with Inter-provincial Red Seal Status in Boilermaking
• Minimum of five years' current experience as a journeyperson
• Previous supervisory or teaching experience is an asset
• Demonstrated skills and abilities necessary to instruct the curriculum
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Provincial Instructor Diploma (or willingness to achieve such) is an asset
• Welding ticket is an asset
• Current computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
