Job Description

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires empathy, active listening, and a non-judgmental attitude. As a Substance Abuse Recovery Support Specialist, you will work closely with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to provide individualized support and guidance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients struggling with substance abuse issues.
  • Assist clients in setting and achieving personal goals related to their recovery journey.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and counsellors to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with clients to monitor progress and provide ongoing support.
  • Facilitate group discussions and workshops on topics such as coping skills, relapse prevention, and healthy relationships.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community resources and services to ensure clients have access to necessary support.
  • Participate in case planning and coordination to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and evidence-based treatments in substance abuse recovery.
  • Document client interactions, progress, and challenges in a confidential and secure manner.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Substance Use Certificate or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience working with clients with substance use issues.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Basic knowledge of substance use treatment approaches and recovery models.
  • Ability to operate related equipment and software applications.
