Pathologist Specialist for Surgical and Autopsy Services

The Interior Health Authority is seeking a General Pathologist (AP/CP) to join our 4.8FTE pathology team. Our group performs approximately 10,000 surgical pathology cases/year, including 17,000 laboratory fee equivalents, as well as 100 bone marrow biopsies/year, 500 cytopathology cases/year, and 50 autopsy cases/year. We are responsible for quality assurance activities and teaching medical and laboratory students.
Key Responsibilities- Surgical pathology: Perform and review histopathological examinations of tissue samples from various sources, including biopsy specimens and surgical resections.
- Bone marrow biopsies: Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients with suspected hematological malignancies or other conditions requiring bone marrow examination.
- Cytopathology: Examine and report on cytological preparations from fine-needle aspirations, non-gynecologic fluid specimens, and other bodily fluids.
- Autopsies: Conduct post-mortem examinations to determine the cause and manner of death, and provide tissue samples for further analysis.
In conjunction with a diverse practice, we have close ties to local physicians and the surgical community, serving as consultants and an integral part of the larger diagnostic team.

Requirements and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Doctorate in Medicine degree.
- Fellowship training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology or equivalent experience.
- Current certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent.
This full-time position offers an estimated average salary of ~$340,000, pro-rated for part-time positions.
