About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Security Systems Expert to join our team at Employment and Social Development Canada. As a Protective Technical Systems Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of physical security solutions to protect our facilities, assets, and personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, install, and commission access control and intrusion detection systems at our corporate and VIP sites.
  • Engineer solutions for access control and intrusion detection systems, supporting and maintaining the Intrusion detection, access control, and CCVE network and infrastructure.
  • Maintain and deploy physical security Rapid Deployment technology, sometimes on short notice, to special events involving Canada's VIPs and Internationally Protected Persons (IPP).
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution in computer science, information technology, information management, or another relevant specialty OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Significant experience in the electronics technology field, including the installation, programming, and maintenance of security systems.
  • Recent experience in troubleshooting and repair of electronic and electromechanical equipment, with emphasis on security systems.
  • Recent experience in electronic security applications, networks, and interface hardware.
  • Recent experience in electronic system performance analysis and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it:

  • Certification in alarm or Voice/data/video disciplines.
  • Experience using enterprise applications to host security systems.
  • Experience administering and querying SQL databases.
  • Experience in programming or using a software development kit (SDK).
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to travel, work outdoors in various weather conditions, climb ladders, work at height, work in confined spaces, and lift boxes or equipment up to 23 kg.
