Director of Environmental Sustainability and Energy

Employment and Social Development Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director - Environmental Sustainability and Energy. This position is a key part of our organization's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
About the Role:The Director - Environmental Sustainability and Energy will be responsible for leading our organization's efforts in identifying, developing, and implementing technologies that promote the sustainability of Canada's energy and carbon-intensive industries. This includes enhancing energy efficiency and reducing environmental footprints, particularly in relation to greenhouse gas emissions.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead research and development projects to identify and develop technologies that promote sustainability and energy efficiency.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental footprints.
- Collaborate with national and international partners, clients, and stakeholders to find integrated, innovative solutions.
- Establish unique R&D capabilities and an up-to-date knowledge base within the federal government.
- Coordinate Canada's R&D efforts with national and international bodies to help Canada meet its commitment to address global climate change issues related to its carbon-intensive industries.
- Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position.
- Experience leading Research & Development (R&D) projects, including proposal preparation, resource allocation, budget, and project management.
- Experience supervising a multi-disciplinary team, including scientists, engineers, or technologists, in the delivery of R&D projects.
- Experience using and developing partnerships or networks to leverage resources to deliver R&D projects.
- Knowledge of effective practices in the management of R&D projects.
- Experience in the delivery of R&D projects or programs internationally.
- Experience authoring technical articles for peer-reviewed technical or scientific journals.
- Experience chairing standards committees or national/international working groups.
- Experience conducting or managing R&D in one or more of the following areas: carbon capture, utilization, storage, and transportation.
