About the Job:

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Recreation Therapy Assistant to join our team. As a Recreation Therapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a Recreation Therapist to assist in the delivery of recreation therapy programs to patients in a variety of settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Recreation Therapists in the planning and implementation of recreation therapy programs
  • Work with patients to develop and implement individualized recreation therapy plans
  • Provide support and guidance to patients in the use of recreation therapy equipment and materials
  • Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of recreation therapy equipment and facilities
  • Participate in the development and implementation of recreation therapy programs for patients with diverse needs and abilities

Requirements:

  • College diploma in Recreation Therapy or related field
  • Experience working with patients with diverse needs and abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, and community centers
  • May be required to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
  • May be required to travel to different locations
