Senior Data Developer Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Developer to join their Physician Compensation team. As a Senior Data Developer, you will be responsible for leading the development and deployment of data solutions and pipelines across on-premises, public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide advanced technical expertise in leading Data Developers to build and deploy data solutions and pipelines.
  • Support projects covering all programs/services within Data and Analytics and throughout Vancouver Coastal Health.
  • Design, maintain, and troubleshoot data models, data pipelines, and implement business logic to meet business requirements.
  • Work closely with project managers, leadership, and other functions across the department and VCH.
  • Collaborate with Principal Data Developers, VCH business and analytics teams, external vendors, and other internal or external teams on cross-functional projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a data-intensive related field, plus at least seven years' experience as a Data Engineer, two of which will have been in a senior role.
  • Data Engineering related certification from at least one cloud service provider required.
  • Proven ability to develop, deploy, and maintain complex multi-tiered data infrastructure, database, and data solutions with on-prem and cloud tools.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience optimizing data solutions and pipelines ensuring scalability, performance, and cost effectiveness.
  • Strong proficiency developing in SQL languages such as T-SQL, PL/SQL, Databricks SQL.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Python, Scala, and Spark with an ability to write efficient and scalable code for data processing/transformation tasks.
  • Strong understanding of coding best practices and modern architectural patterns.
  • Demonstrated strength in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing architecture with solid knowledge of various industry standards.
  • Understanding of software data development, deployment, and release processes, and automated test frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management, and planning skills.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external partners to promote and enhance services provided with sensitivity to diversity and indigenous lens.
  • Practices the recognition, inclusion, and support of all types and aspects of diversity at all stages of engagement.
