Lead Youth Activity Worker

About the Role

The Lead Youth Activity Worker is a key position at the Boys and Girls Club of Winnipeg, responsible for planning and delivering engaging activities and programs for children and youth aged 6-18. This role requires a dynamic individual who can think creatively, build strong relationships, and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead activities and programs that promote youth development, social skills, and physical activity
  • Mentor and support Activity Workers and volunteers to ensure high-quality program delivery
  • Manage program budgets, supplies, and resources to ensure efficient and effective program operations
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement program strategies that align with the Club's mission and goals
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all participants

Requirements

  • Experience planning and leading activities for children and youth
  • Strong group management and leadership skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of youth development principles, community resources, and social justice issues
  • Valid Class 5F Manitoba Driver's License and clear Driver's Abstract
  • Ability to provide clear criminal record and child abuse registry checks

  • Pursuing or holding a post-secondary education in Education, Child and Youth Care, or related social sciences field
  • Experience handling program budgets and petty cash
  • Valid First Aid & CPR certification and Safe Food Handling Certificate
