Job Overview:

The Senior Engineering Designer requires minimal input/direction/guidance from the Engineer of Record and can lead the design of most projects from inception through total completion. This role involves exercising judgment on engineering requirements, meeting project milestones, and being a reliable go-to person for technical engineering questions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting topographic information for design purposes.
  • Preparing detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related applications.
  • Providing guidance and training to junior staff and technical support staff.
  • Designing ESC systems and plans.
  • Preparing alternate designs as necessary.
  • SITE AND LOT GRADING AND EARTHWORKS BALANCING AND OPTIMIZATION.
  • Technical analysis of municipal infrastructure components.
  • Preparation of quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
  • Preparation of reports, letters, memos, and other project correspondence.
  • Compilation of as-built records for design and record drawings.
  • Preparation of contract documents for project tendering.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in civil engineering or special exemption granted by management.
  • Registration as an AScT, C.E.T., C.Tech., P.Tech., P.L.Eng., or P.Eng. within the Province of work (or approved equivalent).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional attitude and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
