About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Banfield Pet Hospital. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our furry patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Veterinary Team: Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing quality care to pets, including preparing patients for exams and procedures, and maintaining a safe and clean hospital environment.
  • Client Communication: Educate clients on pet health, provide information on preventative care, and promote our hospital services.
  • Medical Charting: Accurately record patient information, medical history, and treatment plans.
  • Assist with Surgery: Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians during surgical procedures.
  • Mentorship: Share knowledge and skills with other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems, with a focus on providing excellent client service.
  • Organizational Ability: Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in using a computer and specialized medical software, as well as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual Acuity: Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.
  • Environmental Factors: Routine exposure to a variety of pets, with occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.
