Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Support Specialist to join our team at VCA Canada. As a key member of our hospital staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facility and providing exceptional care to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments, including preparing patients for exams and procedures.
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patients and their owners, ensuring their comfort and well-being at all times.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our reception area, pet holding areas, and common spaces.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to client inquiries and concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, including booking and rescheduling appointments as needed.
  • Process payments and handle client transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining a well-stocked reception area.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date on the latest veterinary procedures and best practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
  • Previous experience in a veterinary or customer service role an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, staff, and veterinarians.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods, with frequent bending and stooping.
