Job Summary

VOIX CONSTRUCTION INC is seeking a skilled Drywall and Ceiling System Installer to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for installing drywall and ceiling systems in commercial and institutional settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of other installers
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
  • Install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
  • Cut and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets
  • Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency
  • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow the coat to dry
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets
  • Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings, and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
  • Install exterior and interior steel studs
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
  • Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation
  • Prepare wall and ceiling layouts
  • Estimate costs and materials
Work Environment

As a Drywall and Ceiling System Installer, you will work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages, and in a variety of settings, including commercial and institutional locations. You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and a large workload.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and a large workload
  • Ability to lift up to 9 kg (20 lbs)
  • Ability to wear a hard hat and safety glasses/goggles
