Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Drywall and Ceiling System Specialist to join our team at VOIX CONSTRUCTION INC. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for installing and finishing drywall and ceiling systems in commercial and institutional settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of other team members
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
  • Install and finish drywall sheets, including measuring, cutting, and fitting
  • Mix and apply plaster ingredients to desired consistency
  • Install and finish ceiling grids, including fabricating and installing suspended metal ceiling grids
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings, and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
  • Install exterior and interior steel studs
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
  • Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation
  • Prepare wall and ceiling layouts
  • Estimate costs and materials
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in drywall and ceiling system installation
  • Ability to work at heights, on scaffolding, or swing stages
  • Ability to lift and move heavy loads up to 9 kg (20 lbs)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team environment with 3-4 people
  • Own vehicle for transportation
Work Environment

The work environment will be outdoors, dusty, hot, and noisy. The work site will be at heights, and the employee will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
