Drywall and Ceiling System Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Drywall and Ceiling System Specialist to join our team at Voix Construction Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and finishing drywall and ceiling systems in commercial and institutional settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of other technicians
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
  • Apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for finishing
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets
  • Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency
  • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow the coat to dry
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets
Work Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, with frequent exposure to dust, noise, and heights. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy loads (up to 9 kg/20 lbs)
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
