Job Description


We are seeking a French-speaking Field Safety Specialist to provide safety and health expertise to our customers and sellers. The successful candidate will develop strong partnership relationships to grow revenues within a defined region.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct needs analysis to determine and understand customer safety and health issues and align them with Grainger's safety solutions.
  • Lead customer discussions with relevant insights and challenge them to think differently about their business.
  • Explore expressed customer needs and identify problems to solve – probe to fully understand, clarify, and expand.
  • Utilize research to identify compelling reasons to change.
  • Efficiently determine a customer's readiness, focusing time on those who are willing to take advantage of Grainger's products or services.
  • Provide customers with solutions that reduce costs or increase efficiency with innovative product or service applications.
  • Develop solution options using ongoing dialogue with the customer and all available technology.
  • Link features and benefits to business outcomes.
  • Work with internal and external Grainger contacts to ensure the ability to support the solution.
  • Perform cost savings analysis for customer solutions as well as Value-Based Conversations through Value Receipts and Documented Value Statements.
  • Use checking questions to gain feedback from customers on customized solution recommendations.
  • Implement solutions by engaging internal and external Grainger resources to develop a plan and timeline to implement the solution.
  • Drive the implementation plan with the customer.
  • Check with customers to ensure business needs are being met.
  • Leverage post-implementation success to gain more information from the customer about future needs.
  • Support Grainger Sellers in the aligned region by providing strategy, coaching, and direction on safety opportunities.
  • Help to align internal and external resources to support the safety opportunities.
  • Educate sellers on safety offers and key messaging.
  • Assist in identifying accounts in geography that will either be assigned as support for key opportunities.
  • Maintain expertise through appropriate preferred safety credentials focused on safety regulations and industry topics.
  • Educate customers on changing market trends and technology and their impact on business.
  • Investigate nonstandard solutions that will profitably satisfy a customer's needs.
  • Expand customer understanding and use of Grainger's standard product and service capabilities.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong business and safety acumen with the ability to understand financial reporting, analyze safety business needs, and document safety value to customers.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent environment involving safety hazard analysis and assessments and overseeing safety.
  • Bilingual (English and French).
  • Ability to project manage and drive for results.
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections to prevent injuries/accident prevention and reduction, engineering controls, ergonomics, and hazmat control to meet compliance standards.
  • Business analysis experience and the ability to identify and implement safety improvements are required.
  • Understanding and awareness of safety regulations, safety applications, and the ability to distinguish market offers and capabilities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety violations, safety drivers, safety programs, and building a safety culture.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and experience with the newest in safety regulations.
  • Ability to learn and understand the Grainger Selling Process to effectively team and solution sell with Grainger sellers.
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to build strong networks and work cross-functionally.
  • Skilled in the application and use of computer and communications technology, with the ability to analyze data through available reports.
  • Ability to proactively partner with various leaders in their geography that ensures the right level of follow-up and follow-through.
  • Demonstrates the ability to motivate and achieve results through others.
