We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Homelessness Support Specialist to join our team at Homes First Society. In this critical role, you will play a vital part in minimizing and eliminating bedbug/pest infestations and hoarding issues.

As a Homelessness Support Specialist, you will be working closely with our team to ensure adherence to our mission statement, policies, and procedures.

Salary

The estimated annual salary for this position is $63,000 - $83,000 CAD, depending on experience.

Job Description

This full-time, permanent position requires the successful candidate to maintain current knowledge of technologies and procedures related to pest control and hoarding removal.

  • To work independently and as part of a team/group to prepare for bed bug/pest removal and/or assist in hoarding clean-up and housing issues stemming from hoarding.
  • To communicate effectively with staff, Property Supervisor, and tenants to address housing concerns.
  • To maintain bed bug/pest control tools and equipment in good condition.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A post-secondary education or equivalent.
  • Several years' experience working with people who are homeless, under-housed, and hard to house.
  • Knowledge of tenant population, diversity issues, anti-discrimination practices, and systemic reasons for homelessness.
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
