The Chief Risk Officer is responsible for directing Canadian Commercial Corporation's Enterprise Risk Management Program. This key leadership role supports the Corporation in delivering its mandate to facilitate opportunities for Canadian exporters in a Government-to-Government model while promoting and protecting its reputation and effectiveness through the continued development of critical risk programs in collaboration with other business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management Program to identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact the Corporation's objectives.
  • Provide assurance to the Corporation's senior executives and the Board of Directors regarding the management of risk, strategy, and organizational performance.
  • Collaborate with other business stakeholders to develop and implement risk management programs that align with the Corporation's strategic objectives.
  • Lead the development of risk management policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide risk management training and awareness programs to employees to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities in managing risk.
  • Monitor and report on risk management performance to ensure the Corporation's risk management program is effective and efficient.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, commerce, or a related field.
  • Canadian Professional Accounting Designation (CPA).
  • Professional risk management or financial analyst designation is a strong asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management and risk programs.
  • Minimum 10 years of leadership and management experience, preferably in an international business environment.
  • Knowledge of legislation, regulations, central agency policies, and procedures governing financial administration affecting bidding, contracting, and tendering processes; and requirements for risk management for Crown Corporations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; experience presenting to and working with boards and senior committees.
  • Proficiency in both official languages is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting an independent Board of Directors and Board Committees.
  • Ability to plan, monitor, control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources, to achieve project objectives.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence across all levels of the organization.
